A big "Thank You" to today's organization, Disabled American Veterans, Local Chapter 19. Their enthusiasm was catching, and just like last year, it was our biggest turnout yet**.
Saturday morning dawned humid and cloudy, but that didn't stop 21 people from joining me for class. We took our practice indoors, but focused on keeping the sunshine in our hearts <3
Quiet. That's how I would describe these free, community classes. They are the only classes that I don't bring music into, instead encouraging people to listen to the sounds of nature, the sound of their own breath. I set a pace slow enough that everyone has time to transition from pose to pose. I also offer ways to deepen a stretch or challenge yourself if you choose. Truthfully, it's a chance for you to quiet your mind, stretch your body and connect to your day.
**If you are one of the organizations that I am raising money for, I encourage you to tell your people about your day! My people are showing up, but they are there for the free yoga :) If you want money raised for your organization, please get the word out to the people who believe in you. Today, in 45 minutes, we raised $117.....that's $30 more than the entire first week brought in!!! Your participation matters :)
Veterans Day...the sequel xoxo
Deep thought for the day...."Sunshine is an attitude you can choose"
Tree Pose brings balance and calm and can be modified for almost everyone. In the foreground is my dad, Bob. He attends my free weekly class at the Senior Center, and also joins us in the morning when he's awake enough :)
