30 Days! 30 Classes! 30 Local Organizations!
4th Annual 30 Days of Summer Yoga!!
Join me once, or join me often each morning from July 13th through August 11th for a 45 minute yoga class accessible to everyone (chairs will be provided for those who need to modify).
These classes are community style, meaning that it's yoga basics with modifications available to make it your own. Fridays are always restorative, as many people come for most of the 30 days. There are chairs available for those who need them. It's really an opportunity to connect to nature and find some strength and peace to start your day right. Expect variations on Sun Salutations, standing poses, lots of breath work and community.
Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, these classes are for you. Bring focus to breath and body as we move through gentle postures designed to open, stretch and strengthen you for the day ahead.
Yoga is an amazing way to improve your mental and physical health. It also reduces stress, improves flexibility, and gives a greater sense of body awareness.
There is no fee for these classes. Although donations will be accepted for the organization of the day, they are not necessary.
Q-How did you decide which organizations would be included?
A-Many of the organizations are returning from last year. Others were added after careful consideration of what they offer the community themselves. I like the thought of helping people who are helping others in their own way. Shelley Strasser at the WAWM Recreation makes the final decision.
Q-How much of the proceeds will go to each organization?
A-100% of all money raised during their specific day will go directly to that organization. I am looking at these classes as a way to get awareness about yoga out there to my community. I am donating my time, and the WAWM Recreation Department is donating the location, staff and chairs.
Q-Is there a minimum to donate?
A-NO! I believe that by offering these classes, we will raise plenty of money for West Allis. However, I want people to do yoga first and foremost. Yoga will change and improve your life if you let it and if you need it to be free, that's ok with me :)
Q-What should I bring? What should I wear?
A-Bring a mat and water. Wear comfy clothes that you don't mind sitting on the ground in.
Here are some words from a note I received after last years event-
"I spend so much time taking care of the people around me that I completely forget to take care of myself. This yoga class and experience has meant so much to me. Starting my day with your warm and loving presence has been so appreciated. The yoga has been strengthening my body, but even more so it has strengthened my inner being. It has changed my life for the better"-anonymous
